State Fees Increasing September 1st
Renew Now to Save Money

September 1^st there will be an increase in the cost of renewing your Florida license plate or your driver's license. If you are eligible to renew before September, you can save money by renewing early.

Registrations

	Florida law allows registrations to be renewed up to 3 months early.
	Example - if your renewal month is November, you can renew starting in August.
	All renewals before September 1^st will be at the lower rate.
	If you renew for 2 years, you will save twice as much. However, if you have already renewed for 1 year, the state does not allow you to change that to a 2 year renewal.

First Time License Plate and New Residents

The fees for anyone purchasing a license plate for the first time (new resident, those purchasing an additional vehicle) will see an increase from $190.00 to over $350.00.

Titles

	The cost of a Florida title goes up approximately $50 on September 1^st.
	The late penalty on a title doubles from $10 to $20.

Driver's License

	Florida law allows a driver's license to be renewed up to 18 months in advance.
	If your driver's license expires before March 1, 2011, you can renew before September 1^st, but you cannot renew until it's no more than 18 months before the expiration date.
