State Fees Increasing September 1st
Renew Now to Save Money

September 1st there will be an increase in the cost of renewing your Florida license plate or your driver's license.  If you are eligible to renew before September, you can save money by renewing early.

Registrations
bulletFlorida law allows registrations to be renewed up to 3 months early.
bulletExample - if your renewal month is November, you can renew starting in August.
bulletAll renewals before September 1st will be at the lower rate.
bulletIf you renew for 2 years, you will save twice as much.  However, if you have already renewed for 1 year, the state does not allow you to change that to a 2 year renewal.
bulletRegistrations that currently range from $28.10 - $46.10 will increase to $46.65 - $71.15.

Titles
bulletThe cost of a Florida title goes up approximately $50 on September 1st.
bulletThe late penalty on a title doubles from $10 to $20.

Driver's License
bulletFlorida law allows a driver's license to be renewed up to 18 months in advance.
bulletIf your driver's license expires before March 1, 2011, you can renew before September 1st, but you cannot renew until it's no more than 18 months before the expiration date.
bulletFees vary by category, but most drivers will see an increase from $32.25 to $54.25.
