1st, Florida has new documentation requirements for residents renewing
or obtaining a new driver's license or identification card. To

The following
are the driver’s license transactions that can be done at the Downtown Sarasota
and Venice
offices:
First time
issuance of a class E license or ID card to individuals who have a valid out-of-state
license or ID card in hand. We can issue the
"standard" Florida Driver’s license for new residents who move to Florida
with a valid license from their home state. (We can also
issue an ID card under the same circumstances. )
Renewal of a Florida
driver’s license, class E, or Florida ID card.
Change of address or
replacement of a valid Florida driver’s license.
Other transactions such as a
first time issuance without a valid license, a commercial driver’s license, or any
license involving a road test must be done at one of the
State’s driver’s license locations.
Unfortunately,
driver’s licenses are not issued at the South Sarasota location.
