All new vehicles will have a MCO (Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin) or MSO (Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin) which must be signed by a licensed automobile dealer for transfer to the purchaser.
In-State Dealer
If you purchase a vehicle from a dealer in Florida, the dealer is required by law to process the title and registration for the purchaser and there is nothing more you need to do. The dealer will handle the transfer of title into your name.
Out-of-State Dealer
If you have purchased a vehicle from a dealer outside of Florida, the dealer may handle the title transfer for you. You should check with the dealer to determine if they will complete this transaction for you. If not, you will need to submit the MCO/MSO, federal odometer disclosure and all other required documents to our office for processing. You may download the Florida Title Packet which contains all the forms and instructions necessary to complete this transaction.
