Mike is a seasoned businessman with a strong foundation in finance, holding a bachelor's degree in “Finance & Insurance” from Michigan State University. Over the years, he has owned and managed multiple businesses specializing in payroll, insurance, human resources, and tax filings, earning a reputation for delivering outstanding customer service and reliable solutions to local businesses.
Mike’s dedication to public service is equally notable. He was elected and served as a Sarasota County Commissioner for eight years, including two terms as Chair, where he championed policies to enhance the community’s economic prosperity with a focus on creating careers (not jobs) for the young adults in Sarasota County. In 2024, Mike was honored to be elected Sarasota County Tax Collector, a role that allows him to continue his commitment to efficient, transparent governance.
Mike has been married to his amazing wife, Lori, for 32 years. Lori is the Chief Operating Officer of Teen Court in Sarasota County and shares Mike’s commitment to the youth in our community. Together, they are proud parents of two children and grandparents to one cherished grandchild. When he is not serving his community or spending time with family, Mike enjoys staying connected with the people and businesses that make Sarasota County a thriving place to live, work and play.
